This past weekend marked the 2011 edition of North Carolina A&T’s “AggieFest”. The annual event has been an area attraction since it began in the early 90s and has become notorious for featuring artists and comedians that are on the cusp of blowing up. Artist such as Biggie, Kanye, Mike Epps, Floetry all have graced the coveted “Aggie Fest” stage. The week of events provided plenty of innocent fun (some not so much) for students and alumni. After feeling a bit nostalgic as a unit the Ratpack decided to put our stamp on AggieFest 2011. The plan was to reunite and rock out like we often do…The result was legendary!
Tap Out Thursday (hosted by @itstheratpack):
The buzz going into Thursday was insane after the T.O.T. promo video went viral and all of the pubbing by @itstheratpack on twitter. The venue was packed out with a 5:1 girl-guy ratio. Carlin handled the music while Jonny & Domo made sure everyone’s cup was filled. With endless Liquor flowing and elbow space practically non-existent it was only appropriate to kick off an overall dope the weekend with the Ratpack tradition.
Friday morning kicked off with many of us hitting the barber shop, picking up an official RP Bone’ Piece and getting fresh for the weekend. After the barbershop and quick lunch in the cafe, we checked in the hotel rooms, re-upped on liq and headed to the plots to meet up with everybody. Step-show was pretty cool and ended with A Phi A and TBS winning. The after party took place at Club Epic, where we bypassed the line in true Ratpack fashion. DJ Red October was on the 1s &2s and even Washington Wizard Point Guard John Wall came through.
Saturday was the main event of the weekend, the Aggie Fest Concert. Fellow Ratpackian and hip-hop artist Locke Kaushal was in the lineup as well as J.Gunn, Dom Kennedy, and Big K.R.I.T. who headlined the show. Locke hit the stage with Beautiful Experience Band and performed a few tracks off of his new mixtape “A Drunken Man’s Words” including “9th inning”. Dom Kennedy took us out to the west coast and Big K.R.I.T. took us to Mississippi w/ his hit song “Country Sh*t”. After the concert we made it back to the hotel and got the kickback started. With a few of A&T’s finest women in attendance and “Sammy D” (Henney & Apple) flowing, the night turned out pretty well. Dom Kennedy and his crew even decided to party with us and show the Ratpack some love. So, how was your Aggie Fest 11 experience and did you get to party with the Rat Pack?
