What’s in Jonny’s Cup: Tequila, Tequila, and more Tequila (Cinco de Mayo edition)
As everyone knows May isn’t just another month for graduations, cookouts, and pool parties. It holds one of the colorful holidays celebrated by all races alike, Cinco de Mayo! And with this holiday quickly approaching I’m here to give you the best tequila for an authentic Cinco de Mayo feel.
Types
All tequila is made from agave and there are two types of tequila, MIXTOS and 100% Agave. The 100% agave is what makes your Jose Cuevo, Patron, and my personal favorite El Jimador. From those types every brand is bottled in three main categories depending on how long they have been aged;
- Blanco: bottled directly after distillation
- Reposado: 2 months – 1 year
- Ańejo: 1 year – 3 years
Drink of the Week
Hello Honey Margarita aka the “Sourpatch”
1 ½ oz tequila- 2 oz American Honey Whiskey
- ½ oz triple sec
- Dash of lemon or lime juice
- Dash of pineapple juice
- 3 oz of sour mix
Occasion
This drink is a good way to ease new tequila drinkers into the great world of Mexican fire water, if you’re really BTL(Bout That Life) then scratch the juices. Sweet and sour shots do the trick as well!!!…party hard and drink responsibility!!!
